In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

4 reasons to book
  • Prime central location — Within a 5-minute walk of Senne - Zenne and close to Grand Place and Brussels Central Station, the hotel puts the city centre on foot.
  • Distinctive converted-convent character — The former convent setting, with chorals in the lifts and incense in the halls, gives the hotel a unique atmosphere that guests repeatedly mention.
  • Exceptional staff and service — Reviewers consistently praise attentive, helpful staff, including extended checkout and personalised breakfast requests.
  • Strong dining and breakfast — Breakfast features a diverse buffet with made-to-order eggs, waffles, and pancakes, served in a restaurant overlooking a patio.

Worth weighing

4 to weigh
  • Rooms and cleanliness score lower — With a rating of 6 out of 10 for rooms and cleanliness, this area may not meet expectations of some travellers despite the stylish décor.
  • Gloomy ambience in corridors — The incense and dim lighting can feel dark or moody, as noted by one guest who found it 'a bit gloomy'.
  • Rooms can be dimly lit — One guest specifically wished for brighter rooms, so light levels may disappoint those preferring bright spaces.
  • No pets allowed — The hotel does not accept pets, which limits options for travellers with animals.

“Excellent food and staff attention. Mrs Corr loved it; Mr Corr would have preferred brighter rooms.”

8.6Verified guest

“The hotel is close to Brussels Central Station, and the entire city centre is within walking distance. Housed in a former convent where Jacques-Louis David spent his last years, it is interestingly decorated — church chorals in the elevators, incense in the corridors, a bit gloomy but full of character. Rooms are decorated beautifully with lovely furniture, a safe, mini-bar, kettle, coffee machine, ironing board, and large TV. The bathroom is spacious with lots of toiletries space, plus bathrobes and slippers. The lobby is beautiful, and breakfast in the restaurant overlooking the patio is good, with a diverse buffet and made-to-order eggs, waffles, and pancakes.”
